There are some movies which you don’t need to see the trailer to want to watch.  This is one of them ~at least for me.  I guess it’s just my fascination with Ninjas ~ these unfathomable and almost mystical killing machines and my movie instinct that assured me it was going to be very entertaining to see ~ and I was right.

Truly one of the best Ninja films I’ve seen since Crying Freeman.  And one of the things that caught me by surprise was the lead star Raizo, portrayed by Rain.  He is a very famous Korean song artist.  Although he has a lot of following, I don’t really know him and until this time, I have yet to hear one of his billboard hit songs, nor do I know exactly about his life…what I do know is that he rocked it!!!  His acting was pretty good , his skills and no to mention Ninja body was flawless.

This movie was Rated 17 here in Manila, there seem to be some ‘cuts’ on the more violent scenes.  I wished they just Rated it 18 and didn’t cut anything out.  A truly awesome film full of gore and carnage and definitely not for the faint-hearted!

Giving this my 5 Star Rating and wouldn’t mind seeing it again

WARNING: Contains spoilers. (~if you haven’t watch this movie, you might not want to read the green part of this review)  This movie has a very nice twist that I actually didn’t expect or would have guessed until it was revealed.

My only question was after the ’source’ was disclosed, since all is dead and gone; why did she still hold back as to where she got the ‘truth’ from and face 2 years prison sentence?  Can a little girl who innocently and naively reveal something be a crime and punishable by law? THAT’S MY BIG QUESTION.  Maybe it is also her own shame as a reporter to reveal that even though unintentional, she got and used information that came from an innocent young girl to publish something big  to prove a point or that might win her a Pulitzer…

I enjoyed this movie a lot, it’s very entertaining to watch especially after a busy week at work and you need to relax and have a laugh.  It’s a nice comeback movie for Ms. Bullock. (if you like to call it that since it’s been awhile she was last seen in theaters).  Plus, she looks so lean and sexy that adds to the charm of this film. Ryan Reynolds is getting to be and is going to be a bigger star in the months and years to come as his starring roles this 2009 have been a success.  Just watch out, you’ll see more of him on the big screen.

I cannot rate this movie less than 4 Stars as Johnny Depp is a million stars and more in my book.  Besides his hairstyle in this film reminded me so much of how he used to look like his character Officer Tom Hanson in 21 Jump Street. (He might hate me for saying this).  Nevertheless it only proves that he doesn’t appear years/decades older from that 80‘s TV series.  Anyway, I like it that this movie doesn’t feel like a typical Hollywood extravaganza.  And it’s one of those rare films you get to see Johnny Depp in a sort of ‘normal looking’ character!  Public Enemies was entertaining enough to merit my time at the cinema this weekend.

If I watched this movie with a date, it would have been very humiliating since I was crying about 15-20 minutes into the film…and my tears continued until the end.  Good thing I was with my sister who brought Kleenex (although it was not enough for me, my sister only used up one piece!)  After the movie was over, there were some people who didn’t want to stand up and leave the cinema, I assume (like me) they are  resting their swollen eyes before going out and facing mall crowds who would probably wonder …what happened to her?!  If you need a good cry, watch this movie and you won’t be disappointed! 

Watch this movie ONLY IF:

*You are a die-hard Harry Potter fan.

*You watched and still remember the last Harry Potter movie.

DO NOT watch this movie if:

-the last Harry Potter you saw was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

-you are over 40 and might as well sleep-through 2.5 hours of film inside the movie theater!

By the by, this movie is good for a movie addict like me.  Although it lacks action and adventure, the plots and effects are good enough to watch.  This movie shows a lot of growing up with the characters in the book…teenage love and all that stuff.  Not bad, but not good enough to get a high mark or to merit a second round replay at the cinema.

As we experience more days in our lives, we must strive to change into someone better and wiser.  This does not necessarily mean an alteration of a grand scale, for we know that it’s impossible to transform into a totally different person.  But a small effort to adjust is sometimes all we need to open our eyes to what possibilities lies ahead and this will guide us to another minute change and another; until we find ourselves yearning for something far greater than what the tangible world has to offer, for the need to evolve is more spiritual than anything else. 

Likewise, we live in a world were appearance and health is considered vital for most.  A challenge to know how to take care and groom oneself in the most natural way should be given time and consideration.  For even though we might be spiritually luminous, combining it with our physical and mental aspects will work hand in hand in our endeavor for a ‘me’ that is uplifting and fulfilling, both to ourselves and to others.
